Fantastic food, elegant display, pleasant environment. Wish the dishes were a bit larger, but had a great dining experience. Thanks Characters.

Posted this on Yelp (they will probably remove it again) Well, let's try this again, since my original review was removed by Yelp (apparently they don't like it when someone leaves a good review!) I have been a customer of Character's for a number of years, and have experienced the restaurant and atmosphere under both the original owner, and the new owners. I have absolutely nothing but praise for the current owners and staff. Meghan is dedicated to using fresh, local, seasonal ingredients in her dishes, and this is reflected in the numerous and varied specials they offer. Portions are generous, and always delicious. Definitely not "cookie-cutter" Lancaster County fare. The staff has always been courteous and accomodating (something I CAN'T say for some of the previous staff). The atmosphere is great - we love to sit at the bar and chat with the bartenders and other patrons. We really appreciate the fact that they accept reservations (something George & Gary never did). Jose & Meghan always make it a point to welcome us, and come over for a chat during a meal. We absolutely adore this place, and anyone who passes it up because of some people with sour grapes are depriving themselves of a great experience.

Thank you Jose for the delicious dessert from our son "Taylor". Bread pudding is my absolute favorite! I came in for the second time in one week for the Farmer's Market Vegetable Wrap, but now I have a favorite dessert as well. You can feature a version of bread pudding every night if it's up to me! Thanks again for the fabulous service, we and our son will be back!

Jose made our evening with friends in July very special. Food, drinks, and dessert were incredible. Thank you!! We'll be back......Saturday night actually.

This is -- by far -- my favorite place in Downtown Lancaster! The weekly specials are to die for!! LOVE the new owners!
